Wednesday Witter #1

This is the first post in a new weekly thingy dreamt up by Sarah at Hello Wall... If you're not already reading her stuff, you should. Only please come back here too. Anyway, she's encouraging other bloggy folk to have a roundup of their respective weeks so far. Sounds like a good idea to me, so, without further ado, here are my midweek musings that constitute my first Wednesday Witter...

Well my week has gone okay so far, I s'pose. Yesterday was the most notable one so far, so I'm going to bang on about that. It's a tale of mixing business with pleasure and pleasure with pain. This sounds a tad kinky but, rest assured, it really isn't! I'll just shut up and get on with it, shall I? First, the business/pleasure part – I only went to the Google Campus. Oh yeah! Here's the proof:

Thanks to a meeting with some men about some cats for work – don't think I can divulge more than that at the moment, but it's also something cool – I got to go to my new Graceland. Uh-huh. The campus is basically an old warehouse that has been converted to accommodate innovative startups. It seems like a great working environment full of creative people. I want to live there. Plus, according to this artwork on the wall in the foyer, it was opened on the very day that Xander was born. This makes me happy.

Yes, it's also dorky that I'm chuffed it was opened on Xander's birthday...

So now for the pleasure/pain bit. The journey in, however, wasn't quite as cool. Quite the opposite, in fact. I boarded my train with a lava-like coffee carefully held in one hand. With no seats available in the coach I got on, I went through to the next one; only the sliding doors faulted and slammed shut again. On my 'coffee hand'. To say that the ensuing volcano of caffeine smarted a little would be a bit of an understatement. To add insult to injury, when I went to wash my burnt sticky hands, I found that the soap worked fine. The tap didn't. FFS! The train company in question *may* be receiving a shitty email in the not-too-distant future.

So there you go; I had a great time at an awesome place and a painful reminder that life can be a bit of a git at times. If the rest of the week can follow the first part of this, that would be grand. Until next week then...
