Personalised cake: edible awesomeness |
A week or so ago, a friendly email found its way into my inbox. "Would you be interested in receiving and reviewing a personalised cake?" it asked. Here was the opportunity to answer my childhood curiosity about the logistics of sending a tasty treat to someone. My answer? "You had me at free cake!"
A brief exchange of emails with the friendly folk at Baker Days and a couple of days later, it arrived. I was actually in the hallway when it did. I saw the box being pushed halfway through the letterbox and thought "That'll be the cake; just leave it there, mate... please!" Our friendly postie gave it an extra push and it landed on the doormat with a loud thud. I carefully opened the box to find the cake completely unscathed. Brilliant!
An unflattering action shot of the cake being devoured mercilessly |
The proof of the pudding, as I'm sure any other self-respecting connoisseur or Bertolt Brecht fan will tell you, however, is in the eating so I allowed our resident cake fiend, Dylan, to join in. There were no complaints apart from when I told him he wasn't having any more and, no, it wasn't his birthday yet. I thought it was delicious too, so there you have it.
If you like the sound of this, you'll be pleased to know that there's still time to get your orders in for Valentine's Day. Nom, nom!
