Time to move on

The contents of Diary of the Dad: yesterday
I've been writing this blog for two and a half years now and have racked up a number of posts since I started, but it's now time for a change. I feel I've done as much as I can with the current setup so I'm moving on...

... to a self-hosted presence on WordPress. Wahey! That wasn't a really lame attempt at an April Fool, by the way. Just realised that as I was about to hit publish...

Diary of the Dad has become fairly well known now  well, I now have people other than my family reading it  but it feels like it ought to have its own home. It's as if Blogger is its parents' house and it's now in its mid twenties, bordering on outstaying its welcome and eating into their retirement funds. So, I'm taking this blog by the scruff of its neck and buying it its first home. Very grown up!

The URL that points to this blog, www.diaryofthedad.co.uk, will remain the same but, soon, it will magically transport you to the shiny new home I've been procrastinating over setting up for the past year. If you're another blogger who has been kind enough to have included Diary of the Dad on your blog roll, please could I ask if you would mind changing the URL from the blogspot one to www.diaryofthedad.co.uk instead? Thanks in advance if that's okay!

As with all big moves, I imagine that it'll take a while for everything to find its way to the new location, so this will be my last post for a short while. So, time to pack up the landmark moments, rants and zombie references...

See you on the other side or, in the meantime, on the Diary of the Dad Facebook page

  1. How exciting (in a geeky, blogging way)! I recently moved mine from Blogger to its own self-hosted home and really think it's one of the best things I've done for my blog. Looking forward to seeing the makeover :-)

  3. Hooray! Self hosted is fantastic (although I did hate it for the first week when I was fumbling around in the dark). There are some very good widgets to use including Yoast, Akismet, Link Within, and more.
